A Humble Beginning
Born on May 25, 1887, into a humble Italian farming family, Saint Padre Pio was a Capuchin priest who spent the final fifty years of his life in the small mountain town of San Giovanni Rotondo in Italy’s remote Gargano region. Though he lived a simple and hidden life, God blessed him with extraordinary spiritual gifts and a profound mission of service.
Padre Pio became the only priest in Catholic history known to bear the Stigmata—the wounds of Jesus Christ Crucified—remaining with him for fifty years.
Miracles & Extraordinary Gifts
God granted Padre Pio many extraordinary gifts including miraculous healings, bilocation, prophecy, discernment, the reading of souls, and the mysterious fragrance often called the "odor of sanctity."
Even today, people around the world report physical and spiritual healings through Padre Pio’s intercession.

A Life of Holiness
Throughout his life, Padre Pio welcomed pilgrims seeking prayer, healing, and guidance. Despite physical suffering and countless trials, he remained devoted to confession, prayer, and serving others.
He died peacefully on September 23, 1968 at age 81, concluding a remarkable life of sacrifice, holiness, and devotion.
"Pray, hope, and don't worry." — Saint Padre Pio
